DUG Digital Media Brainstorming

Dear DUG,

Welcome to a secret web page!

On this page, you will find my recommended action plan, if DUG decides to create a Digital Media Committee.

<<<<<<|>>>>>>

Recently, DUG has been everything for me, from a patch of flowers in the sun, to the welcome sounds of a funky jam session at the Lost House, to a sunset under the quiet city.

Perhaps, we will decide that DUG is growing at its natural pace, in its organic manner as it lives right now, using tidbits of social media to spread the word of real world spaces for sharing, in no need of extra digital pieces.

However, perhaps we will decide that a well designed digital space could create a conduit for DUG related artists to communicate as they come and go from Portland, all across the globe.

To echo what some of you all have already expressed.... I can imagine a website... a space curated by DUG, instead of by Facebook or instagram... no ads, it can be free of that, which positions DUG to quickly assemble a large body of talented, good vibing folks in the digital sphere.

PLan:

  1. Write a statement of intent for creating a digital media committee
    1. ex: "The purpose of creating a digital media committee is to manage the production, maintenance and celebration of DUG curated digital spaces
  2. Identify the primary projects for the committee
    1. ex: "create a public facing website that is designed as a landing space for curious strangers and potential donor or partner organizations" (dugpdx.com)
    2. ex: "create a website for DUG participating artists to see the DUG calendar, share work, and seek the good vibes" (dug.life)
    3. ex: "archive and organize footage and recordings of DUG events and participating artists"
    4. ex: "oversee the production of a weekly DUG radio show for feature on the dug.life website"
    5. ex: gather and showcase stories and exercises that people are using to stay strong and fit in miiind and body.
    6. ex: curate a list of businesses that DUG supports
    7. ex: create a list of additional resources for change makers in PDX
  3. Identify a target schedule for interviewing people, assigning roles, and beginning production on the websites.
    1. ex: "have both websites live by 2:22am on August 8th!" (this is probably too soon... but that would be cool)
  4. Remain patient if things don't go as planned or seem awesome but not well known about or if ya just doubt for a bit.
  5. Celebrate when people bring all the elements together into collaborative conversation!

Here is a video of me talking through these ideas:

Let me know how I can help to continue this discussion!

Much Love,
